What curriculum does the school follow?
- Learning in KG at The Sultan’s School is based on the United Kingdom Early Years’ Foundation Stage (EYFS) and the Omani National Education programme.
- Primary education at The Sultan’s School is based on the Cambridge Curriculum and the Omani National education programme.
- The school’s English curriculum in the Middle School is based on the National Curriculum of England, whereas the Arabic programme of study follows requirements set by the Ministry of Education.
- In Years 10 and 11 The Sultan’s School offers the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) with a mix of compulsory and elective subjects.
- The Sultan’s School offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, a comprehensive and challenging pre-university course for students entering Year 12. The International Baccalaureate subjects are examined at the end of Year 13.
What extracurricular activities are available?
All ECAs run from 3 to 4 PM, except those involving Seniors. Those run till 4:30 PM.
What technology resources are available to students?
- As a Microsoft school, The Sultan’s School has dedicated computer labs for each phase of the school.
- In primary, there are banks of tablets available for teachers to book when technology can enhance the learning experience.
- Each Classroom has a top-of-the-range Interactive Whiteboard.
- In secondary school, students bring laptops to school for use in lessons.
- We also have Robotics, Coding Programmes, and various learning platforms for students to access.
Are there opportunities for parent involvement?
There are many opportunities for parents to take an active role in working alongside the school to support the education of their child. We have a thriving Parent Teacher Association (PTA) which organises a wide range of events in school and meets regularly with the school’s leadership team. Parents are also invited to regular workshops and conferences, and we especially encourage parents to come and speak at assemblies and career talks. The school also proivides a range of social events geared to families.
How does the school support the professional development of its staff?
Professional development is a critical element of staff wellbeing and career progression. The school has a generous budget for supporting staff training, including mandatory safeguarding and child protection courses which are taken annually. Staff are encouraged to lead and attend conferences as speakers and delegates. We pride ourselves on the way that our teachers and support staff act as beacons of professional excellence for others.
